About this Coffee
Nueva Segovia is a higher-altitude region in northern Nicaragua and is one of the primary sourcing regions in this country. The average farm size is 1–14 hectares, and historically, coffees from Nueva Segovia have performed very well in the Cup of Excellence competition.
These FTO (Fair Trade + Organic) beans are washed and sun-dried upon patios. As a result of cooperative efforts, the fair trade premium of these beans allow for farmer support in many ways. Some of these include the purchase of school supplies and backpacks to 3,000 students in local schools, a women's initiative for coffee growers, healthcare initiatives specifically focusing on preventative cancer screenings, coffee growing education that focuses on quality and productivity, and perhaps most importantly, food security programs that support growers and their livelihood.
